The Month in Launches

We have had a busy year so far and July has been no exception with the launch of redesigned and redeveloped websites for the Edinburgh International Conference Centre and ethical investment co-operative, Shared Interest.

Edinburgh International Conference Centre:

As one of the world’s outstanding conference and exhibition centres, the Edinburgh International Conference Centre required a web presence to match.

Storm ID were approached by the EICC team to redesign their website whilst creating a new set of features that would enhance web users’ understanding and impression of theworld-class facilities and service available.

From the outset, we opted to make the site responsive to ensure that all visitors were greeted with an enjoyable user experience that complimented the device – be it mobile, tablet or desktop – that the site was being viewed on.

Being a very design-rich project, we held rapid design workshops that allowed us to begin sketching out the look, feel and layout of the site based on the three key personas who were intended to use the site:conference delegates, event organisers and exhibitors.

Built to showcase the EICC’s excellent facilities as well as new expansion space due in 2013, the feature set of the site also included multimedia floor plans, 360 degree gallery, video and brand coherence between online and offline marketing materials.

Shared Interest:

With charity banking and ethical investment up some 200% this year alone, more and more of us are ditching the high street banks in favour of trustworthy organisations who offer that feel good factor at no extra cost.

Take Shared Interest – an ethical investment co-operative whose purpose is to secureinvestment from the UK to finance fair trade businesses.

Under the tagline ‘Investing in a fairer world’, investors can open a Share Account with £100 upwards. The investment goes into the Shared Interest pot and provides fair finance across the globe to producers and buyers of products such as vanilla, coffee, bananas and cocoa.

Withincreasing demand for their lending facilities, the Shared Interest team were keen to boost their web presence in order to attract more investors as well as improving understanding and awareness of ethical investment.

We worked to redesign and redevelop Shared Interest’s existing website, opting to rebuild in Umbraco which was a good fit to support new features such as a dynamic map of fair trade businesses, integrated third party web form and trilingual content.

We’re already working on the next phase of the project which includes a secure site to allow investors to review their investment activity, download resources and feel part of the Shared Interest community.

Within this there is also a second arm of development, specifically for volunteers who will be able to post information on events, search on an interactive map for volunteers in their area and download information on how to promote activities.
